KRISTY INGERSOLL

Kristy Ingersoll is a music educator and choir director with degrees from Ithaca College (MM) and The Pennsylvania State University (BME). Currently working as a stay at home mother, she is also Founder and Artistic Director of YCFL (Youth Chorus of the Finger Lakes) and Conductor of the Wesley Choir at the First United Methodist Church in Canandaigua. YCFL was awarded a grant by the NY-ACDA Chapter to fund a Community Youth Chorus Festival which was supposed to take place in April 2020 with guest conductor, Janet Galván. Due to COVID the festival has been postponed.
Prior, Ingersoll was the choir director at Canandaigua Academy where she taught the Mixed Chorus, Women's Choir, Madrigal Choir, Jazz Choir and taught vocal lessons. Before Canandaigua, Mrs. Ingersoll worked at Williamsport Area High School in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. There she directed multiple choirs and taught numerous general music classes such as Guitar, Special Education Music, Jazz Rock and Contemporary Music History, and Digital Audio and Recording. Ingersoll has also directed a number of orchestras throughout her career at the following locations: WAHS, CA Ithaca Summer Masters Program, FUMC of Canandaigua.

Ingersoll studied conducting with Janet Galván, Director of Choral Activities at Ithaca College, Vance George, former director of the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, as well as Christopher Kiver, Director of Choral Activities at The Pennsylvania State University. Her choirs have worked with the following renowned conductors: Juan-Tony Guzman, Paul Shewan, Christopher Kiver, Peggy Detwiler, and Gerardo Edelstein.
Under her direction, choirs have performed with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (2015 & 2016), with the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra (2013), at the White House (2012), and at the ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) Eastern Division Conference in Rhode Island (2012).
